City of Monrovia - Neighborhorhood Strategy Team
The Neighborhood Strategy Team (NST) involves key City staff representing all City departments. The purpose of the team is to evaluate trends, provide solutions and initiate a process to successfully deal with the problems. NST members have gone door to door throughout neighborhoods discussing issues with residents.
Monrovia/Duarte Black Alumni Association
The MDBAA provides scholarships for youth seeking to obtain a college education. They are also involved in a variety of efforts to promote education and celebrate racial diversity throughout the community.
The Volunteer Center of the San Gabriel Valley
The Volunteer Center of the San Gabriel Valley is the essential connection for volunteering resources in the community. They effectively gather and mobilize volunteers to address a wide range of community needs.
Monrovia Unified School District
The Monrovia Adult School provides evening classes for adults with resources for career advancement. They also offer specialized curricula on parenting.
Santa Anitia Family YMCA
The YMCA offers a wide range of services for youth, adults and senior citizens. The YMCA is also the home of the Monrovia Youth Alliance, providing adolescent and at-risk youth with healthy lifestyle alternatives.
Monrovia/Arcadia Ministerial Association
Monrovia/Arcadia Ministerial Association (MAMA) - MAMA encompasses a variety of local faith based organizations. Many of these groups offer specialty support services.
LA Works
MAP utilizes LA Works for the Home Improvement Grant Program. Minor home repairs are accomplished as part of a work experience program offered to young adults ages 19-21, who have dropped out of school. They are supervised and trained in the areas of construction; landscaping and city clean up programs. LA Works enrolls these workers in a training program that helps them earn their GED while gaining valuable experience that can lead to future job opportunities and positive life changes.
