|Monrovia Fire & Rescue is a part of the Monrovia community and depends on the community getting involved to provide the best possible service. We encourage you to become a part of what we do through the opportunities below:|
Fire Cadet Program
Our Cadet program is designed for individuals who want a career in the fire service to gain experience and knowledge from a municipal fire department.
The Cadet position is a non-sworn position, and cadets are required to volunteer an equivalent of four 24 hour shifts per month as an additional member of an engine company, truck company, or paramedic squad. Cadets participate in shift drills and quarterly trainings.
Cadets who perform at a high level may be sponsored by the Department to attend paramedic school, or may be eligible for full-time employment as a firefighter or firefighter / paramedic through an interview process with the Fire Chief. Learn more about the Fire Cadet Program here.
Fire Explorer Program
The Monrovia Fire Explorer program is sponsored by Monrovia Fire & Rescue. The main goal is to train young men and women in areas of the fire service and to assist them in pursuing goals to become full-time fire fighters.
The post is organized similar to the Fire Department. Explorers participate in meetings, drills, public relation events, and other related activities. Explorers who successfully pass a series of related tests and training may be eligible to participate in the ride-a-long program, which includes responding with Fire Department personnel and apparatus on actual emergency responses.
