Monrovia Renewal Construction Updates

North Section
Monrovia Renewal construction activities are concluding in the North Section Project area, which is the area of the City located to the North of and including Hillcrest Boulevard, Greystone Avenue and Grand Avenue. For the week of December 2, work activities will include the continued roadway patching and preparation for microsurfacing. In addition, crews will continue working on punch list and general cleanup items in the project area.

As the forecast is calling for rain over the next week, the construction team is planning to initiate Microsurfacing activities during the week of December 9. As the team prepares for that work, No Parking Signs will be posted and work notices will be distributed to residences in the impacted areas. In addition, a more detailed schedule will be provided in the next week’s update.

General Construction Cleanup

As major construction activity is winding down in the Monrovia Renewal work areas, construction crews will be focusing on clean-up activities and punch list items that include, removal and cleanup of all construction materials, restoration of any damaged areas of streets, sidewalks, and parkways and general housekeeping. It is our goal to ensure that when construction is complete the work area is in better condition when we began work. Please be sure to contact our Public Works Department at (626) 932-5575 or email monroviarenewal@ci.monrovia.ca.us if you have any questions or concerns or items that need to be addressed.

Replacement Trees to be Replanted Adjacent to Monrovia High School

City crews have completed planting new trees along Madison Avenue, adjacent to Monrovia High School. Crews planted approximately 40 Brisbane Box trees to replace trees that were removed as a part of the sidewalk improvement project that was undertaken this past summer. Plans for planting trees along the front of the High School are still in development as a part landscape improvements at the High School.

As a reminder, these plantings are a part of the City’s commitment to replant all trees that were removed on a two for one basis. While working toward this goal, additional trees will be planted elsewhere throughout the City.

Report Your Coyote Sightings

Coyotes are present in our urban neighborhoods year-round and play an important role in the ecosystem, helping to keep rodent populations under control. However, coyotes can sometimes pose a potential danger to outdoor pets and humans, which requires us all to be vigilant and reduce our exposure by limiting potential food and shelter resources. To assist in tracking coyote interactions with humans and pets, the University of California Cooperative Extension has developed the Coyote Cacher online tool and interactive map. If you see coyotes in your neighborhood, you may use this tool to provide information to help inform researchers of evolving trends in human-coyote interactions.
