Hello Monrovians,

Earlier today, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that LA County must close indoor business operations for the following sectors:

  • Restaurants
  • Bars (must close all operations - indoors and outdoors)
  • Wineries and tasting rooms
  • Movie theaters
  • Family entertainment centers
  • Zoos and museums
  • Cardrooms

These closures are effective immediately and will remain in place for at least 3 weeks. The Los Angeles County Health Officer Order will be modified today to align with Governor Newsom’s directives.

With these new restrictions in place, the Monrovia Old Town Advisory Board has called for an emergency meeting on Thursday, July 2, at 9:30 a.m.

Public comment will be accepted by email to before 8:30 a.m. on July 2. To watch the meeting and/or provide public comment from your computer, laptop, or smartphone, contact the City Clerk at (626) 932-5505 or prior to 8:30 a.m. on July 2.

Los Angeles County continues to see steep increases in community spread of COVID-19. Today, the public health department announced 2,002 new cases. Los Angeles County has now experienced four consecutive days of new cases over 2,000. As a community, we can protect each other by following these best health practices: wearing a cloth face covering, practicing physical distancing, and washing our hands often. You can make a big difference in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Cloth Face Coverings are Required

Cloth face coverings increases prevention of spreading respiratory droplets when talking, sneezing, or coughing. If everyone wears a cloth face covering when out in public, such as visiting a business, the risk of exposure to COVID-19 can be reduced for the entire community.

In addition to wearing a cloth face covering when you leave your home, be sure to continue to practice physical distancing and wash your hands often.
