On behalf of the City of Monrovia, welcome to the NEW Youth Sports Program featuring Co-ed Indoor Volleyball for 4th and 5th graders. We are excited to offer a program that focuses on skill development and promotes physical activity and teamwork in an engaging and supportive environment. Below you will find information on the season and registration. Open to 4th and 5th graders.
Registration will begin on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. online and at the Monrovia Community Center (119 W. Palm Ave.). Registration fee includes a game shirt. There will also be certificates for all those who participate.
Please note: Registration will not close until the program is full.
Sample shirt sizes will be available at the Monrovia Community Center to ensure accurate sizes are ordered. An additional game shirt can be purchased separately for $10. Orders can be placed with city staff at the Monrovia Community Center.
- Resident and/or MUSD Student - $35.00
- Non-Resident - $40.00
- Practices will be held indoors on Tuesday and Thursday from either 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., or 7:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the Mary Wilcox Youth Center at Recreation Park (843 E. Olive Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016).
- The season will consist of a minimum of 6 games. Playoffs may extend the season by 2 weeks. All games will be played at the Mary Wilcox Youth Center at Recreation Park (843 E. Olive Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016).
City Staff will take a balanced approach when placing participants on teams to ensure each team has an equal amount of 4th and 5th graders.
Meet and Greet:
During the Meet and Greet, participants will have the opportunity to meet their coach and other teammates. There will be no practice following this event.
The Meet and Greet will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Mary Wilcox Youth Center (843 E. Olive Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016).
Picture Day and Opening Ceremony:
On Saturday, January 19, 2019, pictures will be taken prior to the Opening Day Ceremony. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase individual or group pictures.
Opening day games will start at the following times:
- 8:00 a.m. - Pictures
- 9:00 a.m. - Opening Ceremony
- 10:00 a.m. - Game
What to Wear:
It is recommended that players wear comfortable clothing to allow arms and legs to move freely. Comfortable athletic shoes to allow for running, jumping, and quick movements. Knee pads are highly recommended to help protect the knees from bruises and floor burns.
Starting January 8 - March 7, 2019, practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from:
- 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Please note: practice and game schedules will be distributed at the Meet and Greet Event.
Starting January 19, 2019, games will be held every Saturday at one of the following times:
- Game 1 - 8:00 a.m.
- Game 2 - 9:00 a.m.
Please note, the intent of the youth sports program is to encourage parent/guardian participation, therefore transportation to and from practices and games is not included.
However, if transportation becomes a barrier from allowing your child(ren) to participate in the program, please call the Monrovia Community Center at (626) 256-8246.
The Awards Ceremony will be held immediately following the Championship Game on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.
